BENGAL: BODY OF A CLASS 4 GIRL WAS FOUND IN A CANAL AFTER SHE WAS RAPED. (PHOTO).

Tension has spread in a village in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district after the body of a Class 4 girl was found in a canal. Locals, angered by the discovery, alleged that the young girl had been raped and murdered while returning home from her tuition in Kripakhali. Police were informed after she went missing on Friday evening.

Senior police officials said the girl’s parents reported her missing at 9 P.M., and an investigation began shortly after. By midnight, a case was filed, and the police arrested a suspect. The girl’s body was later found near the riverbank, confirming the tragic incident. The Baruipur Superintendent of Police, Palash Dhali, assured that the police were doing all they could, and any concerns from the public would be addressed.

The incident has sparked outrage across the state, with BJP state chief Sukanta Majumdar expressing shock. He criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, blaming it for the deteriorating law and order situation in Bengal. Majumdar shared visuals of protests by locals and questioned Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s ability to protect women in the state.

This tragic case adds to the recent unrest in Bengal, where people are still reeling from the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in August. Doctors have been protesting, demanding justice and stronger safety measures for women, as concerns over the state’s safety continue to grow.
