Dangote Refinery To Supply 60 Million Litres Of Petrol Weekly To IPMAN To Boost Crude Imports The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reached an agreement to supply 60 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) on a weekly basis, which translates to 240 million litres per month.  Why road accidents reduced in Abia – FRSC

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Abia State Command, Corps Commander Ngozi Ezeoma, has said that Abia has experienced a gradual and steady decrease in Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) based on reports from 2015 to 2023, attributing the decline to the efforts of the FRSC and its stakeholders to curb road recklessness by road users.

Ezeoma, who spoke as the keynote lecturer during a town hall meeting/rally organized by the Abia State Orientation Agency and the FRSC in Umuahia, Abia State, said that the public enlightenment program for all road users in the state had become very necessary.

She disclosed that 85 percent of accidents on roads are caused by human factors, while 15 percent are caused by mechanical and environmental factors.

She listed the human factors as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, illiteracy and poor driving skills, overconfidence while driving, speeding, distracted driving, fatigue, indiscriminate parking, and dangerous overtaking.

She identified poor vehicle maintenance as a major mechanical factor causing road accidents.

Also, the acting Director General of the Abia State Orientation Agency, Urena Abazie, advised Abia residents to adhere to road safety rules and avoid social nuisances.

Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, urged vehicle owners to subject their vehicles to regular inspections using the Abia VIO computerized testing centers located in Aba and Umuahia.

Also speaking, the Deputy State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Abia State, Anu Binta Maurice, warned transporters and other road users against drug abuse.
