Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. Yesterday, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu joined by some members of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO),  celebrated an exceptional officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr. Timothy Olusegun Adefolalu, fondly known as the "Dancing Officer," at the Lagos House, Ikeja.


Mr. Adefolalu, stationed at the Radio Junction, Oregun, Ikeja, has won the admiration of motorists and commuters with his remarkable passion, dedication, and unique ability to manage Lagos traffic with his delightful dancing steps.


His enthusiasm and commitment exemplify excellence in public service, showcasing the spirit of dedication that drives Lagos State forward.


Dr Sanwo-Olu commended his courage, hard work, and love for his job and extended her best wishes to him and his entire family for a fulfilling and prosperous 2025.
