 Hadari FC Wins 4th Ogazi Unity Cup Competition, Gets ₦300,000 Cash Prize  ***  A grassroots football cup, Hadari FC have won the 4th edition of the Ogazi Unity Cup Competition in Kokona East Constituency of Nasarawa State and received ₦300,000 as cash prize.  The defeated Maisauri FC through penalty shootout on Wednesday to emerge as champions of the competition organized by a high ranking member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, NSHA, Mr. Daniel Ogah Ogazi.  Maisauri FC came 2nd got ₦200,000 cash prize and Poka Junior FC went home with ₦150,000 cash prize for sealing the third position.  A total of 11 football teams across the electoral wards of Kokona East Constituency participated in the 4th edition of the competition.  Speaking at the grand finale, Mr. Daniel Ogah Ogazi said he organized the competition to promote peace and unity amongst youths and other constituents.  The grand finale had in attendance dignitaries notably the Speaker ...

Warri refinery has resumed operations – NNPCL


Barely a month after the commencement of operations at the 60,000-barrel-per-day-old Port Harcourt Refinery, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has announced that the 125,000-barrel-per-day Warri Refining & Petrochemicals Company in Warri, Delta State, is now operational.

This was disclosed by the NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, during a tour of the facility on Monday.

A video posted by Channels TV on Monday showed Kyari addressing a tour team, which included the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Farouk Ahmed.

Before the tour commenced, Kyari explained that the inspection aimed to show Nigerians the level of work completed so far.

According to him, although the repairs on the facility are not yet 100 per cent complete, operations have commenced.

He said, “We are taking you through our plant. This plant is running. Although it is not 100 per cent complete, we are still in the process. Many people think these things are not real. They think real things are not possible in this country. We want you to see that this is real.”

Located in Ekpan, Uwvie, and Ubeji, Warri, the petrochemical plant produces 13,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTA) of polypropylene and 18,000 MTA of carbon black.

Commissioned in 1978 and managed by NNPCL, the WRPC was built to supply markets in the southern and southwestern regions of Nigeria.

The mechanical completion of the facility was initially scheduled for the first quarter of 2024, according to the NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye.

“Warri should be done by Q1 (first quarter) 2024,” Soneye stated.

The WRPC is one of Nigeria’s four refineries, alongside the old and new Port Harcourt Refining Company in Rivers State and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company in Kaduna State.


Warri Refinery now up and running

The Warri Refinery is live. This is according to the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari.

Kyari broke the news that the refinery was now up and running while he was on the tour of the facility on Monday. Warri Refining & Petrochemicals Company (WRPC) in Warri, Delta State is now up and running.

Kyari who was addressing his team, said, We are taking you through our plant. This plant is running. Although it is not 100 per cent complete, we are still in the process. Many people think these things are not real. They think real things are not possible in this country. We want you to see that this is real.”

“I must congratulate our team for their determination and extreme belief that this company can restart this plant.

“This has brought the result we are seeing in collaboration with our contractors. We have proved that it is possible to restart a plant that you deliberately shut down. We have proved this.

“This plant has three stages. We have started stage one which is called Area 1, able to produce AGO (diesel), Kerosene, naphtha and others. These are brands of high-quality products required in the country. We will also be able to export them. This country will make money to meet the promises of Mr president that this country will be an exporter of petroleum products.

“I must put on record the development was as a result of the charge by Mr President that we must get all three refineries to work. It is already happening. We have successfully started the Port Harcourt 65, 000 barrels per day refinery. We have also started the area 1 of the Warri refinery. The other plants that will produce PMS will also come live.”.
