I led war for Tinubu’s election victory in Rivers – Wike Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Saturday, said he led the war that delivered victory to President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State during the 2023 presidential election. Speaking in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State, Wike tackled former supporters of ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar who are now backing Tinubu. Wike noted that they failed to give Atiku 10 percent during the 2023 presidential election but have chosen to support Tinubu. He warned that nobody would be allowed to lead Tinubu’s campaign in the state. Wike said: “In 2023, we led the war to deliver President Tinubu in Rivers State. Those who supported Atiku in 2023 and couldn’t give him 10% are now saying that they’re going to lead President Tinubu’s campaign in Rivers State. “Is it possible? Nobody in this state can push us out. We have led the war and don’t be bothered about the abuses.”

EEDC LAMENTS DESTRUCTION OF POWER INFRASTRUCTURE IN ABAKALIKI. (PHOTO).

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, has decried the recent vandalisation of electricity installations within its operational area in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.

A statement by its Head of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, on Sunday, said the loss of power supply in areas of Abakaliki was due to the vandalisation of the Udemezue 11KV Feeder in the early hours of the day.

Ezeh said affected areas include Oroko-onuoha, Udensi, Kpirikpiri, Ogbaga Road, New Layout, Udemezue, Low-Cost Housing Estate, and Hilltop Road, amongst others.

He added that notable establishments such as Amikaba, Siren Hotel, Man City Hotel, Muchels Hotel, De Pablo Hotel, and Unity FM radio station have also been impacted.

“We wish to inform our esteemed customers in Abakaliki metropolis that the current loss of power supply being experienced is due to the vandalisation of Udemezue 11KV Feeder in the early hours of today, January 5,” he said.

According to him, the vandalisation was discovered by EEDC officials on patrol following an abnormal outage on the feeder at 02:40 a.m.

He further explained that the vandals made off with approximately 16 metres of underground 150mm2 x 3core armoured underground cable from the source of the feeder.

As a result of this incident, over 70 public and private transformers serving numerous customers under the feeder are currently without supply.

“We sincerely regret this unprecedented development and hereby appeal to our customers for their patience and understanding as we are already working to replace the stolen/damaged items,” he said.

Ezeh assured that power supply would be restored as soon as repairs and replacements were completed, reaffirming the company’s commitment to delivering improved services to its customers.
