"EVIL FOUND THEM".... THOSE ARE TGE WORDS OF THE VIRGINIA BEACH CHIEF OF POLICE AFTER TWO OF HID OFFICERS WERE EXECUTED IN COLD BLOOD. (PHOTOS).

"Evil found them" ...those are the words of the Virginia Beach Chief of Police after two of his officers were executed in cold blood.

25-year-old Cameron Girvin and 30-year-old Christopher Reese were lying on the ground wounded and defenseless when 42-year-old, John McCoy, casually walked up and shot them point blank.

The horrifying encounter was captured by both body and cruiser cameras on February 21st, 2025. The fatal showdown occurred at approximately 11:27 p.m. on Friday night. On that evening, partners Christopher Reese and Cameron Girvin initiated a traffic stop on a blue Hyundai Sonata with expired tags.

The driver, John McCoy, did not initially pull over, but rather led the officers down a dead end street before stopping his vehicle. There was a passenger in the vehicle who has not been identified  to the public at this time. Once they got to the end of the street, McCoy stopped the vehicle and both officers exited their patrol vehicle and approached.

Both Girvin and Reese then began to give multiple verbal commands for McCoy to exit the vehicle. John McCoy became immediately argumentative and refused to exit the vehicle. Eventually McCoy exited the vehicle and a physical altercation ensued between McCoy and both officers.

As the two officers grappled with McCoy in an attempt to gain control of the situation; it sadly spiraled wildly out of control.

John McCoy pulled a pistol from his pocket and shot both officers before they even had time to react. Both Reese and Girvin fell to the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

As the two defenseless men lay on the ground severely wounded, McCoy walked up and shot both men one final time each in what can only be described as  a cold and heartless execution. After executing the two officers, John  McCoy calmly walked away.

First responders quickly arrived on the scene and Christopher Reese was taken to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital where he was pronounced dead in the early morning hours of Saturday, shortly after midnight.  Cameron Girvin was taken to Virginia Beach General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both officers were reportedly surrounded by their friends and family as they passed away.

Responding officers began searching for the assailant and ultimately found John McCoy deceased from a gunshot wound. His body was discovered inside of a shed on the property of a nearby apartment complex.

Preliminary investigation indicates the gunshot wound was self inflicted. Investigators are scrambling to determine a motive for this heinous double homicide. At this point, it seems as senseless as John McCoy not wanting to be arrested for being a felon in possession of a fire arm.

Virginia Beach Chief of Police, Paul Neudigate, has gone on record stating, "I think we all want to know," when asked about a motive. He went on to say, "We asked them to go out in this community and keep us safe from evil. And last night, evil found them."

The passenger of the vehicle has been identified by police but is not facing charges in connection to the incident.

Our thoughts are with the friends, family and community of these two fallen heroes and the entire Virginia Beach Police Department as they attempt to cope with this unimaginable tragedy.

Rest in peace Officer Christopher Reese and Officer Cameron Girvin. Thank you for your service. You will not be forgotten.
