JAMB Permanently Blacklists Six CBT Staff Over Exam Malpractice

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has permanently blacklisted six staff members of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers for engaging in fraudulent registration activities linked to exam malpractice.

JAMB Registrar, Emeritus Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, disclosed this on Monday during an inspection of CBT centers in Ilorin. He stated that instead of penalizing the entire centers, which could affect innocent students, the board identified and sanctioned the individuals directly involved.

“These six staff members have been blacklisted for life. They admitted their wrongdoing and apologized, but they will never participate in any JAMB activities, even if they become lecturers or vice-chancellors in the future,” Oloyede said.

The registrar also reiterated that candidates caught violating examination rules with any exam body, including WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB, would be automatically blacklisted by JAMB.

Additionally, Oloyede provided updates on the 2025/2026 JAMB registration, revealing that over 420,000 candidates had been registered, with more than 124,000 opting for the mock exams. He criticized parents who push their underage children into early university education, citing cases where students later abandoned imposed career paths.

The JAMB registrar also revealed that 10 institutions were caught conducting candidate registration at night, an act deemed illegal. However, he commended the overall progress of the registration exercise, applauding security agencies and stakeholders for maintaining high standards.
