Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  Fire Razes Electronics Shop in Borno


A fire outbreak on Monday night destroyed an electronics shop at Monday Market, Maiduguri, owned by Mohammed Abba Malam, Chairman of the Electronics Sellers Association in Borno State.


Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started around 7 p.m., consuming home appliances worth millions of naira.


Confirming the incident on Tuesday, ASP Nahum Daso, spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, stated that officers responded swiftly to a distress call, securing the area to prevent looting while firefighters battled the flames.


Daso noted that only the Chairman’s shop was affected, and no casualties were recorded.


A trader, Hassan Abdullahi, confirmed that while goods were lost, the quick intervention of police and fire service personnel helped contain the damage.


As of the time of reporting, the cause of the fire and the estimated property loss remain undetermined.
