El-Rufai’s Eye Condition Worsening In ICPC Custody, Aide Alleges The media aide to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Muyiwa Adekeye, has expressed concern over what he described as the worsening eye condition of his principal while in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). SENATE ORDERS INEC TO CONDUCT BY-ELECTIONS IN EDO CENTRAL AND ANAMBRA SOUTH. (PHOTO).

The Senate has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct by-elections to fill the vacant seats in Edo Central and Anambra South Senatorial Districts.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the announcement during plenary on Tuesday, officially declaring the vacancies.

The Edo Central seat has been vacant since December 2024, when Monday Okpebholo was inaugurated as Governor of Edo State. Similarly, the Anambra South seat has remained unoccupied since the passing of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in July 2024.

INEC had earlier stated that it was awaiting a formal request from the Senate before proceeding with a by-election for Anambra South.

With both senatorial districts currently unrepresented in the upper legislative chamber, Akpabio urged INEC to conduct the elections to restore representation for the affected constituencies.
