 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event.  US Plans to End Funding for Global Vaccine Alliance, Gavi


The U.S. government under President Donald Trump has proposed ending financial support for Gavi, a global vaccine alliance that promotes immunization and public health.


A document from the U.S. Agency for International Development, shared with Congress, lists Gavi among aid programs set to lose funding as part of broader foreign aid cuts totaling nearly $76 billion. Despite this, the Trump administration will continue funding HIV and tuberculosis treatment, as well as food aid for crisis-affected regions.


Gavi, which receives about $300 million annually from the U.S., warned that the funding cut could result in 1.2 million deaths over five years. CEO Dr. Sania Nishtar and board chair José Manuel Barroso plan to visit Washington to advocate for continued support, emphasizing Gavi’s role in global health security and emergency vaccine stockpiles.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
