 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity.  2026 guber: I’ll unseat Adeleke as Osun governor — Ex-senator Husain vows


Former Senator representing Osun West, Mudashiru Husain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declared his intention to contest the 2026 Osun governorship election, vowing to unseat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Husain, a long-time political rival of Adeleke, made the declaration while addressing party supporters. 

The Nation recalls that both politicians clashed in the 2017 Osun West Senatorial by-election, which Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won.

Speaking through a statement by his campaign media head, Victor Ojelabi, Husain said he is prepared to reclaim the state for the APC if chosen as the party’s flagbearer.

He recounted his earlier sacrifice for the party, noting that he stepped down for the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke in 2015, a move he said indirectly boosted the political rise of Ademola Adeleke, who later defected to the PDP.

“I defeated Isiaka Adeleke in 2011 and conceded the ticket to him in 2014. I can do it again. With the backing of my party and the people of Osun, I am confident in my ability and experience to lead the state and restore purposeful governance under the APC,” Husain declared.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
