 Texas man arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage while flying to London, police say A Texas man was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage before he could board a flight to London. Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. Authorities noted the inspections were part of broader efforts at the airport due to high outbound narcotics activity. In total, Tiernan was carrying 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of marijuana.  NFF Approves Sam Okwaraji Secondary Schools Soccer Championship


The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially approved the Sam Okwaraji Secondary Schools Soccer Championship, a nationwide initiative to foster grassroots football development. The decision follows the endorsement of the Senate Committee on Sports Development, chaired by Senator Abdul Ningi.


Organized by the Samuel Okwaraji Foundation, the annual championship honors the late Nigerian international footballer Samuel Okwaraji, who tragically collapsed and died during a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Angola at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, in August 1989. Okwaraji, educated at an Italian university in Rome, exemplified patriotism through his dedication to the national team, then known as the Green Eagles.


In a letter signed by Ruth David, NFF’s Acting Director of Competitions, the federation praised the championship’s objectives, noting its potential to positively impact participating youths and advance football development in Nigeria. The NFF also commended the foundation’s vision for contributing to grassroots football growth.


The federation urged organizers to comply with FIFA’s rules during the competition, which is slated to begin later this year. Okwaraji’s legacy of selflessness and service continues to inspire Nigerian youth, serving as a model for future generations.
