The victim, Dr. Abhineet Gupta, who owns the Poison Skin Clinic, has accused a man named Karan Singh of conning him by claiming to have strong entertainment industry connections.
According to police, the incident took place in 2022 when Singh allegedly approached Dr. Gupta, introducing himself as an event director linked to top production houses. Tempted by the opportunity to enter one of India’s most-watched shows, the doctor transferred ₹10 lakh to Singh, who assured him a spot on the show. When the official contestant list was released and Gupta’s name was missing, Singh claimed he would be brought in as a wildcard entry. Months later, no entry materialised, and Singh reportedly began avoiding contact before disappearing entirely.
A cheating case under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered in Bhopal, and a separate complaint has also been filed at Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai. Investigators suspect Singh may have targeted other aspiring contestants in similar scams. Police have launched a manhunt, with Singh currently on the run.
This year’s Bigg Boss Season 19, set to launch in late August 2025, will feature a new political-themed format titled Gharwalon Ki Sarkaar. While anticipation for the season is high, authorities are warning the public to beware of fraudulent agents claiming to offer “backdoor” entries into the show.
