 AU Commission Chairperson Arrives in Bamako to Revive Dialogue With Mali Mahmoud Ali Youssouf arrived for a two-day official visit, according to an AU statement. He was welcomed by Mali’s Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop and is also expected to meet with President Assimi Goïta, it said, Sputnik reported. The visit comes as Mali remains suspended from AU activities since June 2021. The AU has reaffirmed its support for Mali’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while proposing increased assistance to the security sector.

Benue State took a bold step toward modern urban development today as Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia officially laid the foundation for the BIPC Eco-City Estate in Makurdi.


Represented by his Deputy, Barr. Sam Ode, mni, Governor Alia reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to making affordable, quality housing a reality for Benue people. He declared that the Eco-City Estate is part of his vision to transform Makurdi into a world-class modern city, complete with strong infrastructure and accessible road networks.


The governor praised the innovative leadership of BIPC’s Group Managing Director, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-CFA, describing the project as a milestone in reshaping the housing sector. He further encouraged residents and investors to embrace the opportunity, assuring them of government’s continued support.


Dr. Asemakaha disclosed that the Eco-City Estate’s first and second phases will deliver 70 state-of-the-art duplexes, while a third phase will cater specifically to low-income earners. He revealed that BIPC has also secured 30 hectares along Gboko Road to develop an additional affordable housing scheme, designed to ease the rising cost of accommodation in Makurdi.


In her goodwill message, Secretary to the State Government, Dcns Deborah Aber, commended BIPC for its bold vision, noting that the government is also partnering with the Federal Mortgage Bank to provide accessible housing options for civil servants.


Giving technical insight, the General Manager of Real Estate and Infrastructure, Lucy Jato, explained that the estate will feature smart four-bedroom detached apartments equipped with modern facilities, promising comfort and elegance for future residents.


The BIPC Eco-City Estate stands as a landmark project that will not only provide affordable homes but also create jobs, attract investors, and beautify Benue’s capital city.
