 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  Lagos female DPO dies after surgery


Matilda Ngbaronye, the divisional police officer (DPO) in charge of the Festac police station in Lagos, is dead.

In a statement on Saturday, Abimbola Adebisi, police spokesperson in Lagos, said Ngbaronye died “after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos State on Friday 24th October, 2025”.

The police spokesperson described the deceased as “a truly upright and dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity”.

Adebisi did not disclose the nature of the illness that led the late DPO to undergo surgery.

“Until her passing, she was known for her diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty,” the statement reads.

“Her friendly disposition and humane approach to policing greatly helped to bridge the gap between the Police and the public she dutifully served. At no time was she found wanting in the discharge of her responsibilities.

“The CP has personally reached out to her husband and her elder brother, who is a priest, to extend the Command’s heartfelt condolences and support during this difficult time. Burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.”
