 LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event.  Lagos female DPO dies after surgery


Matilda Ngbaronye, the divisional police officer (DPO) in charge of the Festac police station in Lagos, is dead.

In a statement on Saturday, Abimbola Adebisi, police spokesperson in Lagos, said Ngbaronye died “after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos State on Friday 24th October, 2025”.

The police spokesperson described the deceased as “a truly upright and dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity”.

Adebisi did not disclose the nature of the illness that led the late DPO to undergo surgery.

“Until her passing, she was known for her diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty,” the statement reads.

“Her friendly disposition and humane approach to policing greatly helped to bridge the gap between the Police and the public she dutifully served. At no time was she found wanting in the discharge of her responsibilities.

“The CP has personally reached out to her husband and her elder brother, who is a priest, to extend the Command’s heartfelt condolences and support during this difficult time. Burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.”

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
