 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  Lagos female DPO dies after surgery


Matilda Ngbaronye, the divisional police officer (DPO) in charge of the Festac police station in Lagos, is dead.

In a statement on Saturday, Abimbola Adebisi, police spokesperson in Lagos, said Ngbaronye died “after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos State on Friday 24th October, 2025”.

The police spokesperson described the deceased as “a truly upright and dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity”.

Adebisi did not disclose the nature of the illness that led the late DPO to undergo surgery.

“Until her passing, she was known for her diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty,” the statement reads.

“Her friendly disposition and humane approach to policing greatly helped to bridge the gap between the Police and the public she dutifully served. At no time was she found wanting in the discharge of her responsibilities.

“The CP has personally reached out to her husband and her elder brother, who is a priest, to extend the Command’s heartfelt condolences and support during this difficult time. Burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.”
