Terrifying new dashcam footage shows moment doomed NBC helicopter falls out of the sky The terrifying moment an NBC helicopter fell out of the sky and plunged into the ground near where an SUV had slammed into a Metro bus was caught on dashcam. The video, obtained by KTLA, shows the helicopter descending, caught from afar on the vehicle camera of Yera Valencia. She said: “I downloaded the video of my dashcam. It’s a little dot on the video. It’s a crisp video and it just goes down.” She added: “God, it’s so close, it could have happened to anyone. My parents walk down the street.” The two back-to-back Tuesday night crashes resulted in five deaths — two involving the bus and SUV, and three as a result of the chopper going down, killing reporter Eliana Moreno, pilot George Marciniw and pedestrian Edy Gutierrez Mejia.

Padres legend Randy ‘Junkman’ Jones dies at 75


San Diego Padres legend Randy "Junkman" Jones, the first pitcher in franchise history to win the Cy Young Award, has died at age 75. The team announced his passing on Wednesday, remembering Jones as a left-handed pitcher who was a "cornerstone of our franchise for over five decades."

“Randy was committed to San Diego, the Padres, and his family,” the team said in a statement. “He was a giant in our lives and our franchise history.” The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Jones began his Major League career with the Padres in 1973 and went on to earn two All-Star selections, the 1976 National League Cy Young Award, and a total of 735 career strikeouts. After retiring, he was honored by the franchise with the retirement of his No. 35 jersey in 1997 and was inducted into the inaugural class of the Padres Hall of Fame in 1999.

He also pitched for the New York Mets in 1981 and later worked as a coach, mentoring young players, including Barry Zito. The Padres extended condolences to his wife, Marie, and the entire Jones family, saying Jones “will be greatly missed.”
