 Ohio mom insists 'I love my children' as she's sentenced over death of 2-year-old daughter allegedly abused by her fiancé More than a year after the death of her 2‑year‑old daughter, Lilith, Tien Hawkins was sentenced in Ohio for charges tied to the child’s abuse. The 26‑year‑old mother pleaded guilty to child endangerment and child abuse, leading prosecutors to drop more serious counts such as murder and manslaughter.  Judge Brett Spencer accepted a plea deal that gave her five years in prison, with credit for time already served, followed by up to three years of supervision.  During the emotional hearing, Hawkins broke down in tears as her lawyer argued she had been unaware of the abuse allegedly carried out by her fiancé, Brian Moser, while she worked to support the family.  OPERATION PEACE SHIELD: 6 BRIGADE TROOPS RESCUE KIDNAPPED VICTIM DURING ONGOING OPERATIONS


Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim following sustained, robust, and aggressive search and rescue operations within the Brigade Area of Responsibility.


On 27 January 2026, troops deployed at Dogon Gawa, Taraba State, while conducting ongoing search and rescue operations, sighted and rescued a man who had been abandoned in the bush by his captors. The victim was later identified as Mr Ghali.


Further investigations revealed that Mr Ghali and another victim, Mr Simon Oluchukwu, were abducted on 11 January 2026 at Gbise Village, Mbayonga of Benue State. During the abduction, their driver was sadly killed by the kidnappers.


Following his rescue, Mr Ghali was immediately debriefed, provided with necessary medical care, and subsequently reunited with his family.


Speaking on the success of the operation, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their tenacity, courage, and professionalism. He assured that operations in the area would be further intensified to ensure the rescue of the remaining victim and the arrest of the perpetrators.


Brigadier General Uwa also urged members of the public to continue to support ongoing military operations by providing timely and credible information to security agencies.


This successful rescue underscores the gallantry, professionalism, and unwavering commitment of troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army to the protection of lives and property. The Brigade remains resolute in its determination to rid the area of criminal elements and restore lasting peace within the region.
