Chief Uche Sunday Okonkwo, the certified Traditional Ruler of Amawbia community, has been initiated into the prestigious Ozo society, marking a significant step toward his coronation as Okpaligwe Amawbia.

The four-day ceremony, which began on February 26, was attended by dignitaries, including the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, Mayor Awka South, Prince Chinedu Okafor, political appointees, traditional rulers, age grades, women folks, friends and well-wishers.

The initiation involved traditional rituals, including kpololo ozo, washing of hands and legs, and festivities.

In his address, Chief Okonkwo expressed gratitude to Ndi Ozo, Ndi Nze, Amawbia Town Union Executive, friends, and well-wishers for their support.

He promised to lead Amawbia to greater heights, restoring peace, unity, and lost glory, noting that Ozo title is a symbol of leadership, integrity, and community service in Igbo culture.

Nze Chukwukadibia Odumodu (Akalanze), President General (PG) of Amawbia Town, expressed jubilation over the successful initiation of Chief Uche Sunday Okonkwo into the Ozo society, hailing it as a divine appointment. "Ozo Okonkwo was ordained by God to lead Amawbia," he declared, emphasizing the new Okpaligwe's deep understanding of the community's values and traditions.

Nze Odumodu described the Ozo title as a prestigious honor reserved for individuals with exceptional leadership, community service, and integrity credentials. "Ozo Okonkwo is a square peg in a square hole," he affirmed, thanking all who contributed to the ceremony's success.

In a call to unity, the PG urged Ndi Amawbia to rally behind the Okpaligwe, while appealing to opponents to sheathe their swords and support the new leader. "Let's move Amawbia forward," he declared.

The Ozo title is a revered institution in Igbo culture, symbolizing leadership, wisdom, and community stewardship. Chief Okonkwo's initiation marks a new chapter for Amawbia, with promises of restored peace, unity, and glory.

Engr. Arinze Obi, Obukaibe na Amawbia, beamed with pride said, "Today, our Igwe, Chief Uche Okonkwo, takes the Ozo title, paving the way for his coronation as Okpaligwe Amawbia. The wait is over, and Amawbia is buzzing."

He explained that Amawbia tradition dictates that the Okpaligwe must hold the Ozo title to lead the community effectively. "It's a prerequisite, a sacred rite of passage. Our Igwe must wear the Ozo cap to rule and guide us with wisdom," he said.

With heartfelt prayers, Engr. Obi wished Chief Okonkwo "long life, robust health, and wisdom to lead us to the promised land". The community rallies behind their leader, eager to see Amawbia flourish under his guidance.

Others who felicitated with Okpaligwe said that his initiation marks a new dawn for Amawbia, filled with hope and promise.
