Kidnappers Freed Us First: Teacher Reveals Dramatic Twist in Oyo Abduction Saga, Contradicting Presidency’s “Rescue” Claim In a startling revelation that challenges the official narrative, one of the teachers held captive for 56 days by kidnappers in Oyo State has claimed that he and fellow hostages were released by their abductors *before* security operatives arrived to escort them to safety. Zacchaeus Olatunde, a teacher among the victims abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area, made the disclosure during a telephone interview with Nigeria Info FM on Friday. According to Olatunde, the captives — who were kept permanently blindfolded and had no idea of their location — were informed of their freedom by the kidnappers’ commander before any government intervention. “Until the last day when their commander came and was smiling and laughing and said we should thank God that we had been freed.  Anambra HoS Warns Against Misconducts As She Visits Ihiala, Ekwusigo LGA Secretariats

By MaryAnn Chukwuma.

The Anambra State Head of Service, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, Esq., mni, has warned that misconducts in the Civil Service will no longer be tolerated.

This warning was made  during an unscheduled visit to the Ihiala and Ekwusigo Local Government Area Secretariats on Friday, May 15, 2026.

The charge is in line with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s directive to transform the Civil Service into a disciplined, efficient, and effective workforce for Ndi Anambra.

Assessing the level of compliance and commitment among workers during her visit, revealed a high level of nonchalance and unprofessionalism among workers of the local governments, which manifested both in their dressing and attitude to work.

Iwouno described the high rate of lateness and absenteeism as disheartening and an enemy to the transformational agenda of the Governor Soludo's dream of a prosperous Anambra state.

She warned the workers against such misconduct, citing the conspicuous absence of the top hierarchy of the service and Heads of Departments in the local government offices as at her visit by 10.00 am.

In furtherance, Iwouno equally noted that the falsification of age among civil servants culminates as gross misconduct which if found guilty of could lead to punitive actions.

The Anambra civil service boss then invited both the workers of the Ihiala LGA and the staff of Ekwusigo LGA who were not yet on seat as at 10:34 am, to her office in Awka for  a special disciplinary action.

Iwouno stated that Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo's administration would no longer tolerate laxity and indiscipline, stressing that defaulters would be sanctioned in line with the Civil Service Rules, while urging workers to change with the trend or resign voluntarily if unable to cope.

The Head of Service commended the few workers who were on duty and encouraged them to remain committed while noting  that unscheduled visits would continue across the state to ensure compliance and to build a workforce that delivers efficient service to Ndi Anambra.

With her were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr. Martin Agbili, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Chinyere Nwabachili and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power and Water Resources, Sir Victor Ezekwo.
