Gov Soludo Commission 2.5km Road Built by Chief Tochukwu Nzekwe at Ichida

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, officially opened a 2.5-kilometer Nkwo/St. Theresa's road constructed by Chief Tochukwu Nzekwe in Ichida, Anaocha Local Government Area, on May 15. He dedicated the project to supporting the community's safety, economic growth, and social development, benefiting Anaocha LGA and the entire state.
During the event, the governor thanked Chief Nzekwe for partnering with the government through the Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) initiative. "We launched a strategy where everyone contributes to the state's growth, and some Ndi Anambra are responding. I appreciate all who are helping develop our state through PPCP to accelerate transformation.
"If we rely solely on the government, progress will be slow because 98 per cent of our resources are in public hands, with only two percent in government. Each sector—government, community, private companies—has essential roles to play in development. If all government funds were put into one local government, it wouldn’t achieve much in eight years. Therefore, we urge everyone to join efforts in building our state.
"Anaocha LGA is making progress. The late Tonimas was the first to build roads in his community in Neni, and now others are contributing. Everyone can do something for their community—nobody is too poor to help. Each of us has a role in the state's growth," he said.
Governor Soludo mentioned that the foundation for a Dubai-Taiwan-style state is being laid, as in 50 years, the population may exceed 40 million. Without good, traffic-free roads for easy navigation, connecting points A and B will be challenging.
"We are developing four new cities because in 10 years, the entire area will be fully developed. Anambra will be well-planned, with projects like Airotropolis, an industrial city, Awka 2.0, and the upcoming Niger City. A new Anambra is emerging."
He also mentioned that the government is taking action against fake pastors who use the name of Jesus Christ to deceive and impoverish families.
Anaocha LGA Mayor, Hon Rome Ibekwe, expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for commissioning the Ichida road, constructing roads in various parts of Anaocha, refurbishing the hospital, and reappointing an Anaocha son as Commissioner for Health. He also noted that other prominent individuals are building additional roads across different communities.
The Ichida President General, Chief Uche Enechi, expressed full commitment to working with the state government for development.
Earlier, Chief Tochukwu Nzekwe welcomed the governor to Ichida, praising his achievements across the state. He highlighted the smooth, swift travel on the Okija road and announced his elder brother’s ongoing construction of a 2.6 km road to Oraeri junction. He also mentioned that other individuals are building various roads.
