Madonna has stirred conversation online after making a very explicit personal claim about the late John F. Kennedy Jr during a recent promotional video tied to her upcoming project.
The 67-year-old pop icon, who has long been linked in rumour to JFK Jr following an alleged brief relationship in the late 1980s, took part in a new video created in collaboration with LGBTQ+ dating app Grindr to promote her album Confessions II.
In a preview shared by Page Six, fashion designer Raul Lopez asked Madonna to name the “best intimate experience” she has ever had.
Madonna responded with a playful caveat before answering, saying she would only mention people who are no longer alive. She then leaned in and whispered the name John F. Kennedy Jr.
Lopez reacted by commenting that others had also spoken highly of him, adding that he had heard similar praise before. Madonna responded with agreement, further fuelling the moment’s viral attention.
JFK Jr, son of former US President John F. Kennedy, was widely reported to have had a short-lived connection with Madonna during the late 1980s, around the period her marriage to actor Sean Penn was ending.
He later died in 1999 when a plane he was piloting crashed into the Atlantic Ocean near Martha’s Vineyard.
Over the years, speculation about the pair’s connection has resurfaced in various biographies and entertainment retrospectives, though most accounts describe it as brief and informal.
A 2024 oral biography on JFK Jr noted that those close to him viewed the connection with Madonna as short and not serious, with one friend describing it as little more than a passing fling.
The book also revisits his relationships and social circle during the period, including other well-known figures frequently linked to him in media reports, while also highlighting his work launching George magazine and his efforts to bring major public figures into the publication.
