 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  Sailyajit Baruah, an astrologer and Vastu consultant from Assam, has sparked major attention after claiming to have accurately predicted the winners of 105 constituencies in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections before the official results were declared.


According to Baruah, the prediction was publicly posted on his Facebook account on April 29 at 3:21 PM, ahead of both exit polls and result announcements. The forecast reportedly included constituency wise names of winning candidates across the state’s 126 Assembly seats.


The claim has triggered widespread discussion across political and social media circles, with many calling it one of the most detailed election predictions seen during the Assam polls.


Baruah also stated that he had consulted several first time candidates including Rishiraj Hazarika, Himangshu Shekhar Baishya and Arup Kumar Dey, all of whom later secured major electoral victories.


Speaking after the election results, the astrologer said political outcomes could be anticipated through a combination of “calculation, timing, observation, intuition and energy alignment.”


Apart from political forecasting, Baruah is also known for his work in astrology, numerology, Vastu and occult sciences, and has authored books on spiritual studies and related subjects.
