26-YEAR-OLD LAWYER D!ES AFTER CARDIAC ARREST DURING GHANA WORLD CUP CELEBRATION IN KUMASI
A 26-year-old Ghanaian legal practitioner, Sara Araba Tettey, has reportedly passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest while celebrating Ghana’s victory over Panama in their opening FIFA World Cup match on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
According to reports, the young lawyer and alumna of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology was watching the match with friends at a private hostel in Bomso, near the KNUST campus in Kumasi, when she suddenly collapsed during post-match celebrations.
She was quickly rushed to KNUST Hospital, where medical personnel performed CPR for about 45 minutes in an attempt to revive her. Despite intensive efforts, she was later pronounced dead.
Ms. Tettey, who had recently been called to the Ghana Bar and was working with O & A Legal Consult, has been described by colleagues and friends as intelligent, hardworking, and full of promise.
Her passing has left friends, classmates, and the legal community in deep shock, with many paying tribute to her potential and dedication to the profession.
