 Serena Williams' husband addresses critics over White House UFC event Alexis Ohanian, husband of tennis star Serena Williams, faced backlash after attending President Trump’s 80th birthday celebration at the White House, which doubled as a UFC event staged by Dana White’s TKO group. The spectacle drew criticism when fighter Josh Hokit used his post-fight interview to make a vile slur about former First Lady Michelle Obama.  Ohanian, who co-founded Reddit and now owns several sports teams, stayed silent for days before finally condemning the remark on social media, insisting he had already left the event when it was made.  GOV. OTTI CONDOLES WITH EKUBO FAMILY AS LATE NOLLYWOOD ACTOR IS LAID TO REST


The Abia Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has condoled the family of Ekubo over the death of their son and renowned Abia born Nollywood actor, Dr Alex Ikenna Ekubo Okwaraeke whose body has been laid to rest.


Speaking during a funeral service conducted by the Streams of Joy International, at the Mary Slessor Technical College Ground, in Arochukwu LGA, Governor Otti described the death of Dr Ekubo, as a profound loss to the state, nation,  entertainment industry and millions of admirers across the world. 


The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, said that the late actor was not only a celebrated entertainer but also a cultural ambassador, whose talent projected the image of Abia state and nation on the global stage and noted that the deceased life exemplified resilience, creativity and excellence.


The State Chief Executive also applauded the deceased for always carrying his roots with pride and demonstrating through hard work and discipline that dreams can be achieved regardless of one's background, adding that his rise from  Arochukwu to becoming a household name across Africa and beyond remains a powerful inspiration to young people. 


"Alex possessed that rare gift of connecting with people.

Through his performances, he brought joy to homes, inspired

young people, and demonstrated that with discipline, dedication,

and excellence.


"His success story remains a powerful testimony to the resilience,

creativity, and ingenuity that characterize the people of Abia

State. He carried his roots with pride and never ceased to identify

with the land of his birth.


"In him, the youth of our state found a

role model who dared to dream and worked tirelessly to turn

those dreams into reality.


"His life reminds us that true greatness is not measured solely by fame

or achievement but by the positive impact we make on the lives

of others.


To the Nigerian creative industry, we acknowledge the enormous

vacuum Alexx’s death has created in your midst. Although his

voice has been silenced, his works will continue to speak,"Gov. Otti stated.


He further encouraged the wife of the deceased,  the Ekubo-Okwaraeke family, the people of Arochukwu and the Nigerian creative industry to be strong, courageous and take solace in God, while praying for strength and comfort for all affected by the loss of a son whose achievements brought honour and recognition to the state and nation.


In a sermon titled, "Please Forgive God", Pastor Mrs Eno Jerry-Eze, reminded all that nothing happens without the knowledge and consent of God and challenged all to constantly reexamine their lives as a day is coming when all would give account of their stewardship on Earth.


In a tribute, the elder sister of the deceased, Mrs Kelechi Ekubo-Otusi, described her late immediate younger brother as a humble, caring, loving and God fearing man who devoted his life to God and humanity.


Aged 40, Late Dr Alex Ikenna Ekubo Okwaraeke, who until his death was a renowned Nollywood actor and died as a result of complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer, is survived by wife, parents, siblings and a host of other relatives.

The member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Okoro Kalu, Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Mr. Matthew Ekwuruibe, top government officials, Nollywood actors, sympathisers from all walks of life were present at the funeral.
