Bwala Alleges 'Silent Civil War' Raging Within Obidient Movement

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has claimed that a “silent political civil war” is underway inside the Obidient Movement, accusing some of its members of abandoning the group after realizing it is driven more by hate than by genuine political objectives.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Bwala described the movement as unpatriotic, alleging that its members “hate the country they want to govern.”

“They hate the Nigeria they want to govern,” Bwala wrote. “You only need to hear them discrediting Nigeria, Nigerians and Nigerian leaders.”

The presidential aide said growing numbers of Obidient supporters are beginning to “see through the lenses” and are leaving the movement.

“There is a silent political civil war going on in the Obidient camp,” he stated. “The realisation that it is not a political movement but a hate, vitriol and unpatriotic movement... Their members are beginning to see through the lenses. They are abandoning the so-called movement. Gbajue Gbajue Gbajue.”

The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions in Nigeria following the 2023 presidential election, in which Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate strongly backed by the Obidient Movement, placed third. The movement has remained vocal in its criticism of the Tinubu administration.
