 Kim Kardashian Awarded Symbolic 1 Euro in Damages Over 2016 Paris Robbery


A Paris court has officially awarded media mogul Kim Kardashian a symbolic 1 euro ($1.15) in damages following the infamous 2016 armed robbery in the French capital. The ruling marks a major milestone in the reality star's quest for closure after what she previously described as the most terrifying ordeal of her life.


Accountability Over Compensation


The nominal sum awarded to Kardashian is exactly what she had requested from the court. In a joint statement with her stylist, Simone Harouche who was also present during the heist and received a matching 1-euro award Kardashian emphasized that the legal battle was never about money.


"The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition," the pair said in a statement. They expressed their gratitude to the French justice system and noted their hope to continue healing and moving forward.


Significant Awards for Hotel and Staff


While Kardashian opted for a symbolic victory, other victims of the heist received substantial financial restitution. The court awarded 109,516 euros ($126,472) to the former receptionist of the luxury Hôtel de Pourtalès, where the robbery took place. The receptionist, who was held at gunpoint and traumatized during the October 2, 2016 incident during Paris Fashion Week, had initially sought 550,000 euros in damages. Despite not receiving the full amount, his attorney, Mohand Ouidja, declared the court's decision a resounding success.


Additionally, the court ordered the perpetrators to pay 50,000 euros ($57,741) to the Hôtel de Pourtalès itself to cover damages related to the high-profile crime.


A Long Road to Justice


The ruling comes after a French court last year convicted eight individuals for their involvement in the targeted heist, in which millions of dollars worth of jewelry were stolen. Reflecting on the judicial outcome, Kardashian reiterated her appreciation for the thoroughness of the French authorities.


"While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all," she stated, reaffirming her commitment to advocating for a fair legal system globally.
