 CSO/MEDIA REVIEW: HEALTH MINISTER PATE SCORES FG HIGH  ON HEALTH SECTOR REFORMS The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, says civil society organisations play a critical role in strengthening Nigeria’s health system by providing feedback, identifying gaps and helping government translate policies into programmes that improve lives. The CSO/Media-Led Mid-Year Review of Nigeria’s Health Sector Reforms and Policy Dialogue on Monday, Prof. Pate stressed the need for sustained engagement between government, civil society and other stakeholders to achieve better health outcomes. The Minister said the Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu, recognises that rebuilding the health system after years of underinvestment will take time.                            Today thursday,a Muslim funeral was held for Muhammad Ali at his hometown of Louisville,Kentucky,where mourners prayed over his body.An estimated 14,000 people,representing many races and creed,attended the jenazah,or funeral in Arabic,where he was repeatedly feted as ''the peoples champion''.Ali and his family planned his funeral for 10 years,making sure it would honor his Muslim faith while also adapting to the demands of Western media driven culture.Ali,a three time heavyweight champion known for his showmanship,political activism and devotion to humanitarian causes,died on friday of septic shock in an Arizona hospital.He died at the age of 74.More photos below.                                                                  ...

EFCC ARRAIGNS 'DAN CHINA' FOR N23.4M SCAM+DOCKS 3 PEOPLE FOR N5M FRAUD.{PHOTOS}.

                                        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,{EFCC} today thursday,June 9,2016,arraigned one Abdllahi Adamu Usman aka Dan China alongside his company,Solid Unit Nigeria Limited,before Justice Yakubu Dakwak of the High Court of Plateau State {Court 2},Jos,Plateau state,on a two count amended charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N23,431,000.00 {Twenty three Million,Four Hundred and Thirty one Thousand nNaira}.The accused,who claimed to own a functional mining site,allegedly obtained the money from the complainant,Olajide Olaleye,Managing Director,TTMW Services Nigeria Limited,for the supply of Iron Ore and Zinc Ore.However,the accused allegedly became evasive after receiving the money from the complainant.The case has been adjourned to July 26,2016 for commencement of trial.

                                                                     Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of the Lagos State High Court today thursday,June 9,2016,sentenced one Olawale Garuba to thirty nine years imprisonment for stealing from the dead.The convict was arraigned alongside six other in July 2015 for conspiring among themselves to steal over N30,000,000 {Thirty million Naira only} from the bank account a deceased customer of a new generation bank where the convict works.More photos below.                                                                               

PRESIDENT BUHARI,APPOINTS BEN AKABUEZE,AS THE NEW DG OF BUDGET OFFICE OF THE FEDERATION.

                 Mr Ben Akabueze's appointment was approved by President Muhammadu Buhari as the new Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation.Mr Ben Akabueze takes over from Mr Tijani Mohammed Abdullahi who will now serve as Special Adviser to the President on Planning and will continue to work with the Minister of Budget and National Planning.Both Mr Akabueze and Mr Abdullahi joined the Ministry of Budget and National Planning in February this year.Congratulation.

COURT ORDERS A MAN TO PAY 7 MILLION SHILLINGS,AFTER HE WAS FOUND GUILTY OF INSULTING TANZANIA PRESIDENT ON FACEBOOK.

                     According to sources,a Tanzanian man has been ordered by the court to pay a fine of 7 million Tanzanian shillings $3500 or face three months in jail after he was found guilty of insulting Tanzanian President John Magufuli on facebook page.Issac Abakuki had pleaded guilty for the charges in Arusha Resident Magistrate's court before principal resident magistrate Augustino Rwezile who convicted him of the charges and ordered him to pay a Sh5 million fine and serve three years.However,the 40 year old's lawyer plea to reduce the punishment reduced the punishment to the 7 million fine or 3 months in prison instead of doing both.Abakuki was directed to make two payment instalments with the first expected by July 8th and the other on August 8th.Failure to make the payments will result to his imprisonment.More photos below.                             ...

A NIGERIAN BUSINESSMAN,IS SUING RIHANNA & JAY Z FOR BAILING OUT ON HIS CONCERT IN NIGERIA.{PHOTOS}.

                 Rihanna is being sued by Nigerian broadcasting executive Chris Ubosi and his company,Megalectrics,for allegedly bailing on a concert.Ubosi claims that she had been paid part of her fee.According to Ubosi's suit,he made a deal with Rihanna's camp in May 2013 for her to perform a 65 minute concert in Nigeria for $425,000.The businessman further claims he made a down payment of $160,000,but the singer's team then asked to postpone the show.Ubosi says he agreed to reschedule,but only if Riihanna would promote the new show on her social media accounts.In his lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court,Ubosi claims that Rihanna never did mention the change on social media and so he and Megalectrics demanded the full and prompt return of their money.Ubosi claims he never got the $160k advance back and so he's taking Rihanna to court.Her label Roc Nation and founder Jay Z,46,have been named as defendants.However,sources close to Rihanna...

               World Health Organization {WHO announced that after 42 days without a confirmed case of the Ebola virus in the West African nation that it can be considered free of the virus.According to Dr Alex Gasasira,WHO's representative in Liberia said that ''WHO commends Liberia's government and people on their effective response to this recent re-emergence of Ebola...WHO will continue to support Liberia in its effort to prevent,detect and respond to suspected cases''.One more photo below.
