 Senator Sunday Karimi has raised concerns over the growing incidence of kidnapping and banditry in Kogi State, describing abductions as a daily occurrence in the state. Karimi made the remarks on Wednesday during plenary while contributing to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari on the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomoso. The lawmaker said kidnapping and banditry have become major security challenges threatening the stability of the country, stressing that responsibility for addressing the menace should not rest solely on the Federal Government. According to him, bandits invaded Ayedun Bunu, a community in Kogi West Senatorial District, in the early hours of Monday and abducted 28 residents. FRSC To Remodel Approach To Speed Violation On Anambra Roads


With significant reports of traffic mishaps in Anambra State over the past year attributed to overspeeding, the Anambra State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, says the Command will remodel its approach to checkmating speed violation on Anambra roads.

Mr Irelewuyi who disclosed this while discussing preparations of the Command for 2022, said that monitoring would be raised on the installation of speed limiting devices on commercial vehicles while radar guns would also be deployed to detect vehicles running above the prescribed speed.

The Anambra FRSC boss also said that a new approach would be adopted monitor minimum safety standards, especially for heavy duty trucks and articulated lorries, with heavy sanctions awaiting defaulting drivers.

He said that though the Command had its fair share of setbacks last year, which affected both enforcement and relationship with the public, strategic collaboration with other agencies helped it to achieve massive results climaxing onto the end of 2021.

While anticipating effecient result delivery within the second quarter of 2022, Mr Irelewuyi said that he looked forward to crash-reduced Anambra roads and downward turn in traffic-related fatalities.

He sought the cooperation of all road users, remarking that achieving traffic excellence is a collective ambition of both the FRSC and the general public.
