 The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), yesterday, sealed off some buildings/properties across the state over different environmental infractions. They are; * A property on 34, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island for deliberate discharge of raw sewage into the public drain causing offensive odour and sewage flowing in the community, constituting public nuisance, environmental pollution and endangering human life. * A block of Shops along Powerline Road, Meiran, Alimosho, for the illegal construction and operation of unsanitary toilet facility on a road setback without a permit, constituting public nuisance, environmental pollution and endangering human life. * A three-storey building at 38, Adeniji Adele Street, Lagos Island for deliberate discharge of raw sewage into the public drain. * A building at H29, House of Jesus Street, Langbasa, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, for the deliberate discharge of raw sewage into the public drains. Flooding: State Government assures long term intervention plan

The Anambra State Government has assured the implementation of its long term intervention plan that will put an end to the flooding menace in the state.

The State Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim said this in a meeting with the State Committee on flooding.

The meeting, which took place at the Deputy Governor's Conference room, Government House Awka, had in attendance representatives from different UN bodies, who indicated interest to partner the state toward establishing a permanent solution to the perennial flooding.

Dr. Ibezim, who is also the chairman of the committee noted that structures are being put in place to ensure prompt emergency response across flood affected areas.

According to him, there is need to construct more permanent Holding Centres, filled with recreational activities, entrepreneur skills acquisition and others.

He advocated for sensitizing people on the dangers of flood and the need to evacuate the area during pandemic, also good hygiene habits within camps.

Hinting also on sustainability of the project, the deputy governor advised partners to always carry along in their activities the Transition Committee Chairmen of various Local Government Areas as well as community leaders.

The partners which includes, Moses Ohamaeme, Consultant World Health Organization (WHO), Chiwetalu Okosi, UNDP representative, Adaoha Anosike, State representative UNAIDS expressed their readiness to avail the state their support by ensuring that adequate evacuation mechanism and sustainable structures are put in place across riverine areas.

Also present are State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) representatives, Commissioner for Local Government Areas, Mr Tony Nwabunwanne, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Ify Obinabo, and Transition Committee Chairmen of Ogbaru, Ekwusigo, Anyamelum, Anambra East (MOI)
