 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. 2023 EASTER CELEBRATION: CP AMMANI FELICITATES NDỊ ENUGU, REASSURES ADEQUATE SECURITY AND SAFETY


- Calls for prayers, peaceful celebrations, imbibing and exhibiting of Christ's love and selflessness

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, has congratulated the people of the State, particularly Christian faithfuls, as they join others in the country and beyond to mark this Year's Easter Celebration of the death, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. He reassures them of the provision of adequate security and safety of citizens during and beyond the period of the celebration.

2. Accordingly, the CP has directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Heads Tactical/Operational Units of the Command to deploy all operational and intelligence assets at their disposal, to effectively police their areas of responsibilities and ensure smooth celebrations during and after the Easter season. He warns them to ensure that personnel under them stick to the Nigeria Police Force extant rules of engagement and guard against acts of unprofessionalism; noting that they will be held vicariously liable for any lapse(s).

3. The Commissioner, while entreating all and sundry to celebrate responsibly and peacefully, has called on Christians to use the period to pray for the peace and progress of Enugu State and Nigeria. He urges them to reawaken and genuinely express the true nature of Jesus Christ, which is exemplified in his love and selflessness.

4.
