 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  Kano State : FG Orders Relocation Of Sealed Medicine Stores 


The Federal government has urged  owners of 1,321 medicine stores sealed in Kano, to  relocate to Coordinated Wholesale Centre at Dangwauro to ensure proper monitoring geared at safeguarding the country.


Coordinating Minister of Health , Dr Muhammad Ali-Pate, made the disclosure while briefing Newsmen shortly after inspecting the Coordinated Wholesale Centre (CWC) along Zaria Road, Dangwauro Kano.


He said the purpose of the visit was to assess the level of preparedness of the Centre to in enhancing safety in the drug distribution system geared.


Dr Mohammad Ali Pate noted that the present administration was committed towards ensuring a coherent system of distribution of drugs for public consumption.


                                       "I am here at CWC to see the direction taken by NAFDAC and PCN to improve quality distribution system to safeguard the system from substandard counterfeit drugs and other illicit substances that are raking huge amount of havoc in our population"


                                   " As we unlock the Health care value chain in Nigeria we need to have a streamlined system for getting products form the manufacturers to the market and to the general public"


He called on drug dealers to comply with the guidelines and provision of regulatory laws.


On his part, the Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran, said the state would assist smaller drug dealers to acquire shops at the CWC.


                     "To acquire shop at the CWC is one of the concern they raised during our meeting with them. We will make sure we free our market from drugs" Labaran said


Radio Nigeria recalled that the National Agency For Food and Drug Administration and Control(NAFDAC) in collaboration with the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria(PCN)  sealed off the 1,321 medicine stores for operating illegally in Kano.
