 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump. Reacting to the development, Ciise Aden Abshir, a senior adviser to Somalia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and a former national team captain, described Artan as one of Africa’s most respected referees. “Omar Artan is among Africa’s most respected referees and deserves the support of the entire football community,” Abshir told AFP on Monday.  His Excellency Mr Peter Obi Pays Condolence Visit To Late Nollywood Actor, Jnr Pope Odonwodo’s Family In Ukehe, Enugu State



The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Nollywood actor, Junior Pope.


 Obi signed the condolence register and also took a picture with the late actor's children.


A Nollywood actor and ex-spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential campaign council, Kenneth Okonkwo, took to his Instagram account to share pictures accompanied by videos of the visit on Saturday.


 Okonkwo's caption read, ”HE Peter Obi arrived at the residence of John Paul Odonwodo, Junior Pope, to pay his condolences to his family over the sad, and untimely departure of their child, brother, husband, and father. He consoled his mother, Mrs Maria Odonwodo, the widow, Jennifer, and his children.”


Recall that Junior Pope died on April 10, 2024, alongside three others after their boat capsized on the Anam River in Anambra State while returning from a film location.


He was laid to rest at his hometown, Ukehe in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State, on Friday.
