 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  Anambra Assembly passed 11 bills out of 21bills in one year.

The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze has said that the 8th Assembly under his leadership has passed 11 out 21 bills presented before it in just one year in office.


Mr Udeze disclosed this while briefing journalists at the legislative complex in Awka, about the performances and achievements of the 8th Assembly since their inauguration on June 12, 2023.


Recall that on 12 June, 2023 the eight Assembly was inaugurated and Mr Somotochukwu Udeze emerged the eight speaker of the Assembly 


The speaker commended members of the 8th Assembly for their resolve and commitment towards the development of the state, regardless of party affiliations.


He further disclosed that 62 motions and about 70 resolutions were considered within the review period, according to him, out of the 21 bills, 11 were executive bills, while 10 were private member bills, all crafted in the best interest of Ndi Anambra.


He noted that some of the challenges of the 8th Assembly included having 23 new members that are unfamiliar with legislative principles, which prompted the leadership to organize seminars within and outside the state to align them with the operations of the house.


The Speaker also explained that the legislators work as a team with efforts geared towards serving the people of the state better.


Mr Udeze also emphasized that there is a cordial working relationship with Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the entire executive arm.


The speaker noted that they are currently working on the issue of legislative autonomy, with the commission expected to be soon established.


He also revealed that the house had set up a committee to review all laws passed in the last 20 years, while assuring that they will continue to make laws that serve the state's best interests without being biased.
