 GOVERNMENT OF RIVERS STATE   PRESS STATEMENT  MY DECISION TO WITHDRAW FROM THE RIVERS  STATE  GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARIES  Fellow Rivers People, After deep reflection and extensive consultations with my family, friends, and associates, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC gubernatorial primaries. I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party. Leadership is ultimately about sacrifice. There comes a time when personal ambition must yield to the greater good of the people. Rivers State is bigger than any individual, and at this critical moment, the peace, stability, and unity of our dear state must take precedence over every personal interest.  Again, Police arrest singer, Speed Darlington


Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested a Nigerian musician, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, in Owerri, the Imo State capital.


Counsel for the singer and Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the development in a post on his official X page on Wednesday.


Adeyanju stated that his client was arrested while performing at a show in Owerri, days after returning to the country earlier in the week.


He wrote, “Our client, Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”


However, the reason for the singer’s arrest remains unclear at the time of filing this report.


The Nigeria Police had arrested Darlington over alleged cyberstalking of a fellow musician, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.


The singer was arrested in Lagos and transferred to Abuja before being detained by the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team in the Guzape area of Abuja.


The musician, who was accused of cyberstalking Burna Boy, was released on bail days after his arrest.
