 African Airlines record 5.7% decreased demand for air cargo in February — IATA African airlines recorded a 5.7% year-on-year decline in air cargo demand in February 2025, with capacity decreasing by 0.6% in the same period. Capacity, measured in available cargo tonne-kilometers (ACTK), dropped by 0.4%, although international operations saw a 1.1% increase. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) report showed that global capacity decreased by 0.4%, with international operations showing a slight increase of 0.4% in demand. Globally, air cargo demand fell by 0.1% compared to February 2024, marking the first decline since mid-2023. “African airlines saw a 5.7% year-on-year decrease in demand for air cargo in February. Capacity decreased by 0.6% year-on-year,” the report read in part.  Lokoja University Fires Four Lecturers Over Sexual Harassment and Exam Misconduct


The Governing Council of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, has approved the dismissal of four lecturers over allegations of sexual harassment and examination misconduct. 


The decision was made during the council's second meeting, chaired by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, which was recently held in Lokoja. The council praised the university's management for following due process in investigating the allegations.


Reaffirming its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards unethical behavior, the council made it clear that misconduct of any kind will not be tolerated at the institution. It also instructed the university to expedite the resolution of other pending cases, particularly one in the Faculty of Science that has recently attracted media attention.


The council urged staff and faculty members to uphold high ethical standards and encouraged students to report any incidents of harassment.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
