 RE: MISLEADING CLAIMS REGARDING EXTORTION OF MOTORISTS BY LAGOS STATE TASKFORCE – YET-TO-BE-IDENTIFIED SECURITY OPERATIVES: ANOTHER CASE OF MISTAKEN IDENTITY The Lagos State Taskforce wishes to address a misleading narrative circulating on social media, particularly in a viral video shared by protesters and concerned groups who recently demonstrated at the Lagos State House of Assembly. The protest was in response to the alleged extortion of motorists by security operatives, yet to be identified, who are not officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit. We categorically state that the Lagos State Taskforce had no involvement in the said incident.  Police Arrest Alleged Kidnap Kingpin in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended 30-year-old Nwile Bete, a suspected kidnap leader, during an operation in Port Harcourt. The operation also resulted in the rescue of a 10-year-old boy who had been kidnapped by Bete.


Police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday. Bete allegedly abducted the boy on November 25 and demanded a ransom of N5 million for his release. The boy's mother reported the abduction, prompting the police's Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take action.


Based on credible intelligence, officers tracked Bete to Rumuekeni School Road in Port Harcourt, where he was arrested. After his capture, Bete confessed to the crime and led police to Sogho village in the Khana area, where the boy was found unharmed and reunited with his family.


Iringe-Koko confirmed that investigations are underway to locate Bete’s accomplices, who remain at large. The suspect will face charges in court once the investigation is complete.


This arrest marks a significant step in the police’s efforts to combat crime in Rivers State.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
