 UNACCEPTABLE – GOV. ALIA BLASTS MBALOM KILLINGS, ASSURES JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS  Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has condemned the latest attack on Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable, while assuring residents of intensified efforts to protect lives and property. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor reacted to reports of an assault by suspected armed herdsmen on the community, an incident that adds to recurring security concerns in parts of the state. Alia said the attack represents a direct threat to the peace and security of Benue, noting a disturbing pattern of what he described as calculated and selective assaults. POST-NBA CONFERENCE: CP GIWA HAILS SECURITY SUCCESS, APPRECIATES IGP, THANKS ENUGU GOV


The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, has hailed the resounding security success recorded during the 2025 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual Conference in Enugu. He credited the feat to the professionalism and dedication of officers and men of the Command.


The commendation came during a post-conference debriefing with key supervisory officers. The Commissioner described their efforts as exemplary, stressing that their discipline and synergy with sister security agencies ensured the high-profile event was held without any breach of peace.


CP Giwa appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his guidance and support, which greatly enhanced the success of the operations. He also thanked the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his unwavering backing of security efforts, and commended sister security agencies for their effective collaboration throughout the Conference.


The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining professionalism and proactiveness in protecting lives and property, while urging residents to remain law-abiding and continue to support the Police with timely and credible information.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
