Trump issues pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer after insider trading conviction    President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer, who served nearly two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading tied to post-congressional consulting work. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison for illegal stock trades made while working as a consultant and lobbyist. He was ordered to forfeit more than $350,000 in ill-gotten gains and pay a $10,000 fine. He was released from custody in 2025 after his conviction was upheld, with the Supreme Court declining to take up his appeal earlier this year. POST-NBA CONFERENCE: CP GIWA HAILS SECURITY SUCCESS, APPRECIATES IGP, THANKS ENUGU GOV


The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, has hailed the resounding security success recorded during the 2025 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual Conference in Enugu. He credited the feat to the professionalism and dedication of officers and men of the Command.


The commendation came during a post-conference debriefing with key supervisory officers. The Commissioner described their efforts as exemplary, stressing that their discipline and synergy with sister security agencies ensured the high-profile event was held without any breach of peace.


CP Giwa appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, for his guidance and support, which greatly enhanced the success of the operations. He also thanked the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his unwavering backing of security efforts, and commended sister security agencies for their effective collaboration throughout the Conference.


The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining professionalism and proactiveness in protecting lives and property, while urging residents to remain law-abiding and continue to support the Police with timely and credible information.
