 Umueri Crisis Claim: False, Election to Hold April 8 - Says Anambra East Mayor By Nwegbo Ifeanyi  The Anambra East LG Chairman, Hon. Ifeanyi Chinweze, has denied allegations of a leadership crisis in Umueri General Assembly, calling the statement from Ikenga Umueri Unity Forum " false and misleading. Addressing journalists, Chinweze said Umueri is peaceful, with town union elections scheduled for April 8, 2026. He claimed Ikenga Umueri Unity Forum, which issued the statement, is actually frustrating the election with selfish motives.  He distanced himself, PG Chief John Metchie, and electoral committee chairman Barr. Eugene Aghaebe from the allegations, saying they were innocent. The controversy arose after Chinweze insisted Ikenga should not hold key positions like, Secretary, and Vice President simultaneously since they have president general, considering Umueri's three quarters (Ezi, Ikenga, and Invite).  Those who accused me of destabilizing PDP, working for Tinubu now in APC – Wike


The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday said those who accused him of destabilizing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.


Wike said they should commend him for clearing the path by working for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.


Recently, some PDP chieftains like Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and former National Youth Leader of the party, Sunday Udeh-Okoye defected to the APC.


Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today last night, Udeh-Okoye said the Southeast have found a home in the APC.


While in PDP, Udeh-Okoye had wrestled for the position of the party’s National Secretary with Samuel Anyanwu, a close ally of Wike.


However, Wike said defectors are working together to support Tinubu’s administration.


Wike spoke at the flag-off of the construction of the main carriageways of Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction along Wasa Road, by Shoprite Junction in Apo area of the FCT.


According to Wike: “It has never been like this before, whichever party you belong to, all of them have always worked together to support this administration.


“I’m very happy that very soon I will speak to Nigerians. I have been watching on daily televisions and social media people who said I want to destabilize the party. I’m working for APC, and all of them are now in APC.


“So they should commend me for working for where they are heading to, I should be commended for doing a good job for them.”

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
