  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous.  Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has appointed Pastor Joe Linus as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters. 


Pastor Linus served as Chief of Staff to revered man of God, Rev (Dr) Uma Ukpai for over 35 years until his demise in October. 


The appointment takes effect from January 2026.
