Senate President Godswill Akpabio has appealed to the people of the South East to sustain peace and prevent their youth from engaging in armed struggle against the Federal Government. Akpabio made the plea on Saturday during the funeral of Sir Albert Ikechukwu Nnamani, former Administrative Secretary of the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Area Development Commission (OMPADEC), held in Ikem, Enugu State. In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, Akpabio emphasised that development can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere and urged Ndigbo to properly mentor the younger generation. “For Ndigbo, I want to plead with you to continue to maintain the peace and watch the youth of today. They don’t understand politics. They don’t understand development. You can only have development in an area of peace,” Akpabio said.  Arkansas police arrest Kendra Duggar on child abuse charges


Kendra Duggar, wife of 19 Kids and Counting star Joseph Duggar, was arrested in Arkansas on misdemeanor child abuse charges. 


She faces multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and false imprisonment, with a hearing scheduled for Monday. 


Her arrest comes just days after Joseph Duggar was taken into custody in Florida, accused of molesting a nine-year-old girl during a family trip. 


According to an affidavit, Joseph admitted his actions, acknowledging his “intentions were not pure.”


Authorities clarified that Kendra’s charges are unrelated to Joseph’s case. The Duggar family, once portrayed on TLC as a model of conservative Christian values, has faced repeated scandals over the years. 


The original show was canceled in 2015 after eldest son Joshua Duggar was accused of molesting his sisters and is now serving time for child sex abuse material. 


Joseph, the seventh of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children, married Kendra in 2017 after meeting her at church.


The couple’s relationship was featured in the spin-off Counting On, and they share four young children together. 


While the family once enjoyed a wholesome public image, the recent arrests of both Joseph and Kendra have intensified scrutiny and added to the long list of controversies surrounding the Duggar name.
