 Nigeria, U.S sign agreement to boost mining investment Nigeria and the United States have signed a framework agreement aimed at deepening US investment in the West African ‌country's mining sector, Nigeria's solid minerals minister Dele Alake said on Thursday, Reuters reported. The agreement, signed in New ​York on Wednesday by Alake and ​US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, ⁠covers geological data, mineral exploration, mineral development ​and processing, infrastructure, and technical capacity building. Nigeria estimates its mineral resources are ‌worth ⁠about $700 billion and is seeking to diversify the economy away from oil.

 LSSTF Donates 80 Anti-Riot Kits, Helmets to RRS


The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has donated 80 anti-riot kits and 80 anti-riot helmets to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) as part of efforts to strengthen security operations in Lagos State.


The items were formally presented on behalf of the Fund by its Director of Administration, Mr Adegbola Lewis.


Receiving the equipment, the Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, who was represented by the squad’s Second-in-Command, SP Ayodele Oyebade, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government, the LSSTF, and supporting donors for their continued commitment to security.


Oyebade assured that the kits would be effectively deployed to enhance the squad’s operational capacity, particularly in maintaining public order and safeguarding lives and property across the state.
