 ZIMBABWEAN COUPLE DEPORTED OVER SECRET BURIAL OF CHILD IN BOTSWANA A Zimbabwean couple has been deported from Botswana after secretly burying their child without notifying authorities. Motilinah Mpofu and Christopher Ncube were convicted on Thursday of concealing a death after they allegedly dug a grave for their child in the dead of night. The Gaborone court heard the child had died suddenly. Instead of reporting the death to police, health officials, or traditional leaders, the couple quietly buried the youngster and hoped no one would find out. But the secret did not stay buried for long.   Police moved in and arrested the pair. In sentencing, the court ordered that the couple be taken to the Plumtree Border Post for deportation to Zimbabwe.  Top Botswana lawyer Winnie Masitha who offered the couple free legal representation during the trial, confirmed the deportation to BTV News.  MINISTRY OF HOUSING DIRECTORS RECEIVE SUV FROM GOVERNOR SANWO-OLU


The Lagos State Ministry of Housing has recorded another milestone in staff welfare and motivation as two of its substantive directors received official vehicles from the Lagos State Government. 


The beneficiaries are the Director of Legal Unit, Barrister. Bukade Idowu-Koya, and the Director of Engineering Services, Engr. Adedamola Adedokun, both of whom received a brand-new SUV.


The presentation of Directors’ vehicles to substantive Directors in the Lagos State Public Service was performed by Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, at Lagos House on Tuesday, 24 March 2026.


While congratulating the recipients, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Engr. Abdulhafis Toriola “I wish to appreciate Mr. Governor for his unwavering support for public servants and for consistently prioritising staff welfare under his administration’’. 


Engr. Toriola congratulated the beneficiaries and urged officers across the Ministry to remain committed, diligent and dedicated to every task entrusted to them "The presentation of these vehicles is a clear demonstration of the State Government’s commitment to staff welfare and recognition of excellence in the Public Service", he said further.


The Permanent Secretary congratulated the Directors who benefited from the gesture while encouraging officers of the Ministry to remain steadfast, hardworking and dedicated, knowing that diligence and loyalty will always be recognised and rewarded as promised by the Governor and the Head of Service.
