Arsenio Hall has shared the routine and style choices he credits with helping him maintain a youthful outlook as he approaches life at 70.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Coming to America star was asked by guest host Colman Domingo about his approach to looking younger than his age.
When Domingo said Hall did not appear to be someone who was 70, the comedian jokingly replied, “Smoking weed,” drawing a reaction from the audience.
Hall also spoke about experimenting with younger fashion trends, including barrel-style pants, which he and Domingo jokingly referred to as “death pants.”
He explained that his son encouraged him to try the style after they watched Domingo’s appearance.
“My son took me to buy some death pants,” Hall said while showing the khaki-colored trousers. He added that while the style may work for younger people, he was unsure about wearing them at 70.
Hall shares his son, Arsenio Cheron Hall Jr., with former partner Cheryl Bonacci. He previously stepped away from entertainment for several years to focus on raising his son.
During that period, Hall said he valued being present as a parent, including taking his son to school, helping with homework and spending time with him at home.
“I have no regrets. I’ve had an incredible time away,” Hall told USA Today in 2013, explaining that fatherhood gave him an opportunity to be more involved in his child’s life.
Hall later returned to acting and television, appearing in projects including Coming 2 America, the 2021 sequel to his 1988 film Coming to America.
He also released his memoir, Arsenio: A Memoir, in April 2026, reflecting on his career, including his early work as a magician and the success of The Arsenio Hall Show, which ran from 1989 to 1994.
