 PRESS RELEASE OYO POLICE ARREST SIX SUSPECTED COUNTERFEIT CURRENCY DEALERS, RECOVER €8,900 SUSPECTED FAKE EURO NOTES The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six suspects linked to the possession, circulation and alleged production of counterfeit Euro currency, following a successful patrol operation by operatives of the Command. On 1 September 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., operatives on township patrol around the Labo–Wesley area intercepted three men travelling on a motorcycle. A search conducted on them led to the recovery of 89 pieces of suspected counterfeit €100 notes, with a total face value of €8,900. The suspects were identified as Tijani Saheed, 50, who was found in possession of the suspected counterfeit currency; Oni Oladapo, 67, who is alleged to have supplied the money; Adebayo Saheed, 52, who was the second passenger on the motorcycle; and Hammed Karemu, 25, the motorcycle rider.  Hospital Administrator Commends Staff During Unannounced Visits to Nawfia, Nanka Hospitals

The Anambra State Hospital Administrator, Dr Frank Ifeanaeme, has commended healthcare workers at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Nawfia, and General Hospital, Nanka, for their commitment to duty, professionalism and compliance with administrative directives.


Ifeanaeme gave the commendation during separate unannounced inspection visits to the two health facilities on July 21 to assess service delivery, staff discipline and ongoing infrastructure development.


At the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Nawfia, he expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded, citing the increase in patient turnout and the cordial working relationship among members of staff.


He described teamwork as critical to efficient healthcare delivery and urged the workers to sustain the momentum.


At the General Hospital, Nanka, the Doctor in Charge conducted the hospital administrator on a tour of the facility, highlighting ongoing projects aimed at improving its infrastructure and service capacity. The projects include the construction of a staircase, installation of a solar power system and other facility upgrades.


The inspection also showed a high level of compliance with administrative directives, with about 99 per cent of staff wearing their official uniforms and name tags, while no cases of absenteeism were recorded.


Ifeanaeme praised the dedication and professionalism of the workers and encouraged them to remain committed to delivering quality healthcare services to the people of Anambra State.
