Residents of Umuahia, the Abia State capital, were greeted with an unusual sight after a basket containing assorted food items was reportedly abandoned at a roundabout near the Urban Development Control Authority (UCDA) Secretariat.
The basket, which has attracted the attention of passers-by, contained a variety of items including soft drinks, apples, pawpaw, pineapple, bananas, eggs, and a loaf of Jumbo bread, among other food items.
According to eyewitnesses, the identity of the person or persons who placed the basket at the location remains unknown. Some residents speculated that the items may have been left for traditional or spiritual purposes, while others declined to comment, saying the motive behind the act could not be confirmed.
As of the time of filing this report, no individual or group had claimed responsibility for the basket, and there has been no official statement from the authorities regarding the incident.
