This absolutely disgusting example of poor conduct played out Saturday, August 22nd, in Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin.
During a Brew City League game between the Case Eagles and the Milwaukee Colts that was being played at the J.I. Case High School football field, a 41-year-old man was caught on camera doing something pretty shocking for an adult to do.
As a 9-year-old player for the Case Eagles, rushed across the field, closing the distance for a beautiful touchdown, when suddenly his moment was shattered.
According to eyewitnesses, the 41-year-old man ran with full force and stuck out his leg, causing the child to come crashing hard to the ground. Later reports indicate that he had become upset over an earlier play, causing him to interfere.
The man was asked to leave following the act of hostility towards a child.
However, many are upset with the ultimate outcome. Officers with the Mt. Pleasant Police did respond to the scene and confront the man. Officials report that the man admitted to tripping the child and realized he had done wrong. He was cited for disorderly conduct, leaving many unsatisfied.
The incident was reviewed for possible upgraded charges but only resulted in a misdemeanor citation. The reason for the decision was that the child was not physically hurt as a result of the adults child-like behavior.
The lesser charge resulted in the identity of the 41-year-old man being withheld. This was another point of contention.
The man was banned from all future football games, and the young team he supported ultimately suffered from HIS lone actions. The Milwaukee Colts were fined due to the incident.
The general consensus regarding the incident is that it is an unbelievable act of immaturity and an abhorrent example for all of the children who witnessed the pathetic display. It was mere luck that the child landed that hard without injury. It isn't as if the unnamed man was trying NOT to hurt him.
