 INEC DENIES REMOVING NDC CANDIDATES; CHALLENGES PARTY TO PRODUCE EVIDENCE INEC has described as falsehood the allegations by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC that the Commission had removed candidates purportedly nominated by the party for the 2027 General Election and replaced them with names allegedly unknown to the party, particularly in respect of some State House of Assembly constituencies in Anambra State. Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oketola in a chat with our INEC Correspondent Mie Ogidi says INEC does not nominate candidates for political parties. The nomination of candidates is the responsibility of political parties, subject to compliance with the Constitution, the Electoral Act 2026 and other applicable laws, Regulations and Guidelines. Bonnaroo Music Festival canceled for 2027 as severe storms force venue to recover and repair damage

The Bonnaroo Music Festival will take a year off in 2027 as severe storms have left the event’s Tennessee venue in need of time to recover and undergo repairs.

The festival, held on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, about an hour outside Nashville, draws thousands of music fans each year. However, repeated rounds of intense weather have taken a toll on the property, particularly the main festival grounds.

The venue had already undergone several improvements designed to better withstand severe weather, including an upgraded drainage system, 135 acres of new grass and 4.5 miles of new roads. Despite those efforts, back-to-back years of storms have continued to create difficult conditions.

Festival officials said the property had limited time to recover between storms, including a period of heavy rain that hit on a Sunday during this year’s event. They determined the farm needs a full year to rest and recover before hosting another festival.

Images from this year’s event showed muddy and flooded areas around the main stage, where large crowds gathered.

After successfully working through the difficult conditions this year, organizers decided that postponing the festival in 2027 was the best way to allow the property to recover and receive necessary repairs.

Bonnaroo has been held for 24 years and has become an important economic event for businesses and restaurants in the surrounding area. However, the Manchester community will have a quieter summer in 2027 as the festival takes a one-year hiatus.
