 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. EHIOMA  Popular Catholic priest, Reverend Father Emmanuel Ehioma, has advised people that watched the video clip in which Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson, was dragged off the airplane repeatedly to go for confession. In the viral video, the bare bwests of Emmanson were exposed as she was bundled out of the plane for attacking airline officials. Ehioma said watching the video repeatedly is akin to watching porrn. “But if you went back to watch it again, you have to go for confession,” he said. “The second, third, fourth and other times you went back to watch that video were because of your hunger to see her nude and feel good about it, just the same way you act towards porns. “Kindly meet your Priest and confess to the Lord.”

 Bhopal police are investigating a major fraud case after a local dermatologist was allegedly cheated of ₹10 lakh with the false promise of securing a place in the reality TV show Bigg Boss, hosted by Salman Khan.  The victim, Dr. Abhineet Gupta, who owns the Poison Skin Clinic, has accused a man named Karan Singh of conning him by claiming to have strong entertainment industry connections. According to police, the incident took place in 2022 when Singh allegedly approached Dr. Gupta, introducing himself as an event director linked to top production houses. Tempted by the opportunity to enter one of India’s most-watched shows, the doctor transferred ₹10 lakh to Singh, who assured him a spot on the show. When the official contestant list was released and Gupta’s name was missing, Singh claimed he would be brought in as a wildcard entry.  Parents and child killed after tree falls on car amid heavy rain and flooding in Tennessee  A mother, father, and child were killed when a large tree fell on their car during heavy rain and flooding in East Ridge, a suburb of Chattanooga, Tennessee, officials said Wednesday. The tree toppled due to saturated ground just after midnight, according to Hamilton County Office of Emergency Management spokesperson Amy Maxwell. Authorities are also searching for a man who went missing after walking through a flooded road in Chattanooga on Tuesday night. The full extent of the storm’s damage remains unclear, with county officials planning assessments on Wednesday morning. Flooding on Tuesday prompted multiple rescues of people trapped in vehicles and homes, and the region was preparing for more rainfall.  Sebastian Telfair begins prison sentence Former NBA player Sebastian Telfair has begun serving his prison sentence at Fort Dix FCI in New Jersey, where he is expected to remain for six months. The 40-year-old was ordered to prison earlier this summer after violating the terms of his supervised release in connection with a healthcare fraud case. Telfair previously described the situation as “super unfair” and publicly expressed hope for a presidential pardon. While it is unclear if any pardon is being considered, he has stated he plans to use his time behind bars to focus on self-improvement. Fort Dix is a low-security federal facility with a population of over 3,000 inmates.

 Yes, I said it, give us a car and fuel before we can tell you our prophecies – Prophet Fire Oja tells Gov't Prophet Ogyaba, aka Prophet Fire Oja, isn’t backing down from his headline-making request to the Presidency.  Speaking to Joy News, he confirmed that indeed he was the one who made the request on behalf of all Ghanaian prophets as widely publicized. “Yeah, it’s true. I said it. I don’t think there’s something wrong about it.” The founder of the Holiness of Christ Zion Ministry explained that many prophets, including himself, don’t own cars.  “If they want us to spread whatever they want us to do, they have to at least give us more fuel so we can deliver the message,” he said.

 Protesters torch home affairs office in Germiston over eviction dispute Angry protesters are said to have set the Department of Home Affairs office in Germiston ablaze amid growing frustration over looming evictions. Residents of Pharoe Park flats, many of whom allegedly live there rent-free, launched a strike that escalated into violence, with the Home Affairs building targeted in the chaos. Protesters are opposing eviction notices linked to unpaid rent and rates, which have reportedly accumulated to over R200 million over 20 years. According to the Ekurhuleni Housing Company (EHC), more than 400 families face eviction from municipal owned properties, including Pharoe Park, Airport Park, and Delville. The unrest has led to barricaded streets and police deployment across Germiston CBD. Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services said firefighters from several stations were dispatched after the two storey building caught fire.
