NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT. Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination. A reinforcement team from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. The acting Vice Chancellor,Obafemi Awolowo University,Prof. Anthony Elujoba and University Bursar,Mrs Aderronke Akeredolu are being quizzed at the Iyaganku officee of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC Ibadan,today 13th December,2016,in respect of an alleged case of illegal and corrupt diversion of N1.4 billion.According to the petition,Elujoba allegedly diverted the sum from the University's Fixed Assets and Endowment Fund without approval from the Federal Ministry and Governing Council of the University to pay some unapproved allowances from which he paid himself N7m {Seven Million Naira}.The VC and Bursar are still being interrogated.More photos below.
