 PRESS RELEASE OPERATION HADIN KAI FOILS MASS ABDUCTION ATTEMPT AT FGGC MONGUNO Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL), successfully foiled an attempted mass abduction by ISWAP terrorists at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno, at about 0130 hours (1:30 a.m.) on 19 July 2026. The FGGC facility is currently being utilized by the Borno State Government as temporary hostel accommodation for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno. The terrorists reportedly gained access to the facility with the assistance of suspected collaborators in an attempt to abduct students. Alert security personnel immediately engaged the terrorists with coordinated and overwhelming firepower, effectively stalling their advance with Sector 3 Quick Reaction Force (QRF) immediately reinforcing the school.      The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Idorenyin Essien,35, who burnt his son to death over alleged theft.
Recall that Mr Essien doused his son Abadiofon with kerosene and set him ablaze at Afia Nsit community in the Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.
The spokesman of the command, DSP. Mac-Don Achibe, who confirmed the development while speaking with newsmen in Eket on Tuesday, said that the incident, which occurred on Aug. 29, was reported to the police by Essien’s neighbours.
Achibe said the case would be charged to court after the police investigation.
Essien burnt his son to death with claims that he stole N500 from their landord’s house to buy food. According to reports, Essien sent the minor to buy kerosene, which the son did. He tied the boy with a rope, doused him with the kerosene and set him ablaze. The boy was rushed to hospital but later died.One more photo below.
